Parthenia and I first met as fellow teachers in the School District of Philadelphia decades ago. We became friends right away, and stayed in touch as our careers changed through the years. Both of us even worked in the Harrisburg area for a while, always commuting from Philly. Each of us received our doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, because we strongly valued the importance of being career educator role models, and serving diverse communities with knowledge and expertise.
Parthenia always had a twinkle in her eye, a laugh filled with joy, and a kind and gentle nature. Dr. Moore was a beautiful woman and a wonderful educator, and she will be deeply missed. She has created a legacy of learning that has had a positive impact on thousands of students and colleagues. I send my deepest condolences to Parthenia's family, and I will keep her and all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
