I stumbled upon this announcement by accident. I remember Miss Shirley, as we called her then, as a younger woman in my twenties. I always thought she was so beautiful inside and out. She had an amazing sense of humor and really connected with where young people were coming from—although I probably was a bit slow on any pickup having been raised in a non-urban environment. But my study capacity was certainly accelerated by listening to and marveling at some of the stories Miss Shirley shared. Her entire family was not only very intelligent but a chock full of hilarity. It was a refreshing change for me given they knew so little about my life. I am thankful to our superior source of all creation for allowing me to share some space with this lovely lady in what has turned out to be an enlightening, albeit unbelievable at times, journey for me. Rest in the most glorious, powerful peace Shirley Murphy. And my deepest condolences are extended to your entire family.
