Wendy Lorraine Bryant Obituary

Wendy Lorraine Bryant was born on May 20th, 1961, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Wilhelmina (Pennick) Carter and Raymond L. Carter, Sr. She was the 2nd of five children and the oldest daughter. She departed this life on February 4th, 2025.

She was baptized at our family church, Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church, at an early age. She has always been affiliated with several churches and loved reading the bible and discussing scripture.

Wendy attended Fitler A P Elementary School and Pickett Middle School where she participated in multiple activities such as the gymnastics team. She received her diploma from Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. High School and graduated from Cheyney University with a B.A. in Accounting.

Wendy was employed at the Social Security Administration and later worked through the ranks to become a Supervisor at the United States Postal Service where she retired.

On August 31, 1991, Wendy married Jimmy Wayne Bryant and embraced his sons Wayne and Timothy. Wendy and Wayne enjoyed attending baseball games at Fernhill Park and hosting cookouts during the summer.

Wendy was an Eastern Star of the Loucelia Chapter #38 Order. She is a Past Worthy Matron and Rose of Sharon Royal Court #6, Order of Cyrene Past Royal Commandress. The colors she represented were Red.

Wendy loved her family. She enjoyed talking and playing games with her nieces and nephews and not letting them win. She was firm and stubborn yet, fun to be around. She was always up for a debate. She remembered everything most people could not remember, like things when you were five (5) years old. She loved her siblings and would talk for hours about anything from the messages of cartoons to life lessons.

She leaves to mourn her brother, Raymond L. Carter, Jr. (La' Tina); sister Sandra Thomas (Gordon, Sr.); brother-in-law, Timothy Holloman; sisters Pamela W. Selby, Joy L. Carter, husband Wayne, and parents preceded her in death. She also leaves to mourn nephews, Derrick Campbell, Raymond L. Carter, III, Gordon W. Thomas, Jr.; nieces, Katrina Stiles (Tracy), Sarah M. Thomas (Goddaughter), Nicole J. Thomas, Kristen N. Selby; daughter-in-law, Ebony Lopez (Timothy), and grandchildren Cory and Timia Bryant and great nieces and nephews.
