James Jarmon, a beloved Philadelphia native and life-long resident of Crum Lynne, PA, passed away unexpectedly at home on February 3, 2025. James was a man of many talents and passions, known for his incredible cooking skills and his love for sports, especially football and basketball.
James is survived by his only son Taj (Melody) Davis, granddaughters Lundyn, Leryic, Loegan and Tahj, his mother Doris and stepfather William King. He was preceded in death by his father George H. Jarmon and grandparents Edward and Evelyn Hinton. James also leaves behind his five siblings: sisters Kim (William) Alston and Wendy, and brothers George, Michael, and Milton along with nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
James attended school in Philadelphia and proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve, where he was honorably discharged. His culinary journey led him to work at Salumeria in the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia, where he delighted many with his amazing meals until his health necessitated early retirement. Despite his health challenges, James was blessed with the gift of life through two bilateral lung transplants under the care of the Penn Medicine Transplant team.
James was a man who cherished his family and friends, always bringing love and laughter into their lives. Known by many nicknames—Jamie, Uncle Jamie, Old Head, Silky, and Jarm—he was the life of the party, never afraid to speak his mind. His comedic nature and big smile will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A brother is there to help us be confident when timid, to be strong when weak, and to be fearless when scared. He is an inspiration, and his memory will be in our thoughts forever.
James' legacy is one of joy, resilience, and love. He will be remembered for his vibrant personality, his dedication to his family, and his passion for life. Rest in peace, James. You will forever be in our hearts.
