Christine "Chris" Lassiter is the middle child of the ate Chauncey Lassiter and Eva Jones, she was born December 26, 1929 in Durham, NC. Chris leaves behind her three children Tina, Kevin and Mark. Her grandchildren Robert C. Lassiter, A'lain Adams, Joshua S. Lassiter, and granddaughter Kimberly V. Lassiter, great grandchildren Isaish Adams, Elijah Adams, great nephew Christian Fleming and her great niece Lashonda L. Abduh and a host of many nephews, nieces' family and friends.
In 1950, Chris married Worth Littlejohn Barbour , from this matrimony came three children and Chris's love as a homemaker and later an astonishing social worker. Chris was educated in the Philadelphia School District, receiving her high school diploma at West Philadelphia High School in 1947. She was also a Girl Scout Leader of America from 1057-1959. She continued her education at A&T University of Greensburg, North Carolina, graduating with a bachelor's degree in social studies in 1964. For 30 + years she worked consistently for the Philadelphia, Pa coty and counties with Department of Public Welfare Southeastern Region Children Youth & Family Services and various agencies impacting one life at a time with great love. Chris retired in 1992 from the state of Pennsylvania.
Chris was notably loved and an active member in the communities of Philadelphia, PA. She loved to play cards and board games, going to the gym, family and friend's gatherings and most of all traveling. She traveled the world learning about different cultures and exploring many beaches. Traveling became a great joy in her life, where she would enjoy 30-day cruises and traveling to Georgia to spend time with her family. Researching the family's history and geology strengthened her. Lastly, Chris loved fashion. She loved to shop and showcase herself as a classy lady with great poise. She was a very good and caring mother and person. Her children always came first; she loved to party and was the life of the party. Always kind and generous to everyone she knew or didn't know. Her wisdom was so essential to all the people that bonded to her. She had a story and life lesson for any worry or troubles to shed light on any problem. Chris made sure to connect with people who needed her energy, that is what kept her alive for 95 years. Most of all she loves to hang out with her nieces and nephews getting good laughs.
Chris was a social butterfly and had a contagious spirit that lifted any room. She will be missed deeply and forever mentioned. A truly remarkable woman, inspiring with strength, kindness, and unwavering spirit. Our Chris had a positive impact on everyone around her and that is undeniable.
