Obituary of Antwain Jerome Ball
Please share a memory of Antwain to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Antwain Ball, affectionately known as Andy, left this world far too soon, but his legacy of laughter, adventure, and boundless love will live on forever. Born in Sumter County, Georgia, to Carol and Johnny Ball, Andy was the youngest of four, yet he carried the boldest spirit. From the moment he could walk, he was fearless, free-spirited, and full of energy—always chasing excitement and bringing his loved ones along for the ride.
As a child, Andy had an endless love for nature and animals. He would spend hours outdoors, playing, exploring, and embracing the world around him. At just six years old, he amazed everyone by learning to ride a ten-speed adult bicycle, proving early on that he did not know the meaning of the word "quit." Animals held a special place in his heart—he found joy and companionship in every creature, big or small.
During his middle school years, the family relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, bringing challenges and new experiences. While the transition from the quiet landscapes of Georgia to the fast pace of Philadelphia was a shock for the family, Andy took it all in stride. He quickly immersed himself in his new surroundings, making friends, learning the streets, and embracing the city's culture. He was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system attending Sulzberger Middle School and University City High School, while at both schools he formed lasting lifelong friendships.
Andy had a way of making every moment special. Whether it was cracking jokes, playing video games, or jumping on a bike for a spontaneous ride, he was the fun uncle who never truly grew up and turned every family gathering into a celebration. His nieces and nephews didn't just see him as their uncle; they saw him as a friend, a mentor, a game partner, workout guru who taught them to embrace life with joy.
Andy was full of life and had lots of passions. He was an avid runner who ran 8-10 miles effortlessly, and unknown to most, Andy developed a love of reading, and an appreciation for music. He was a big kid at heart and loved nothing more than spending time with his daughters and grandkids. On one of their most recent outings to an arcade, he rode motorcycles, played games, and took pictures. When asked if he enjoyed the time with the kids, he replied, "I had a ball."
He was a devoted father. His two beautiful daughters, LaShay and Siara, were his pride and joy—the very center of his world. He loved them fiercely, always ensuring they knew they were his greatest accomplishment. His joy multiplied when he became a Pop-pop to Desire, Kabir, and Navy. The mere mention of their names made his eyes light up, and he found pure happiness in their laughter, knowing that his adventurous and loving, free spirit would live on through them.
Andy was pure energy. He drew people to him like a magnet, and once you became his friend, you were his family for life. But beyond his fun-loving nature was a man with a heart as big as his smile. He was generous, selfless, and always willing to give, whether it was his last dollar, his time, or his presence. His kindness knew no bounds, and he taught those around him that true wealth is found in love, laughter, and the people you cherish.
Though Andy's time was far too brief, his light will never fade. It will shine on in the memories he created, the laughter he inspired, and the love he shared so freely. His adventurous soul will forever ride the wind, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him.
