Angeline Carol Lucinda Johns Obituary

Angeline was born on April 15, 1961, in Philadelphia, Pa to Trinia Butler and the late Sonny Richardson. As the only child of Trinia, she enjoyed a blessed and loving upbringing. She spent much of her early life with her grandparents in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, where her roots were deeply planted.

She attended St. Raymonds Catholic School, where she consistently earned straight A's and stood out academically from a young age. Her brilliance continued to shine through high school, where she became a star student at Bishopp McDevitt High School. After Graduating from McDevitt, Angeline began her college journey at the historic HBCU, Delaware State University, pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering. Two years into her studies, she chose to pause her education to embrace motherhood with the birth of her first son Edward who she loved.

Later, with determination and grace, Angeline resumed her studies at Temple University, where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Chemistry in just two years. She went on to welcome two more sons, Vinson and Ronald, whom she loved endlessly and unconditionally.

Angeline began her professional career as a dedicated educator in the Philadelphia School District, teaching at Germantown and Lankenau High Schools. Her classroom was a place of inspiration, mentorship, and transformation. She touched the lives of countless students with her passion and care. Never one to stop learning, she returned to college to pursue a master's degree in education at Cabrini College. Throughout her life, she wore many hats, football mom, coach, school mom, and hustler. Her love for her family, students, and community was unmatched. She was a motivator, a mentor, a realist, and a force whose presence lit up every room. Her love was genuine, her energy contagious, and her spirit unforgettable.

Angeline lived fully and joyfully. She loved returning to Delaware State University each year with her girlfriends to celebrate Homecoming, a tradition that brought her laughter, sisterhood, and lifelong memories. Most of all, she cherished her role as a grandmother. She was an active, loving, and constant presence in the lives of her grandchildren, always showing up and supporting them by any means necessary.

Angeline transitioned peacefully on April 14, 2025. She will be remembered for her fierce determination, her bold honesty, and her immeasurable love. Angeline showed up for the people she loved unapologetically and without hesitation. She stood firm in what she believed in and never backed down. Her loyalty ran deep, and her heart was wide open. If you were loved by Angeline, you knew it, felt it, and carried it with you. Her legacy is one of strength, support, and a love that never wavered. Angeline transitioned peacefully on April 14, 2025.

Angeline leaves to cherish her memory: Her husband, Derrick Johns, her beloved mother and stepfather, Trinia and Vinson Harvey; her sons Edward, Vinson(Marquita), and Ronald; her stepchildren, James (Erica), Andria, Derrick (Raquel), Jennifer, Wesley, and Jordan, and her sisters, Stephanie Beaver and Patricia Richardson; and a host of in laws, grandchildren, aunts, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
