Cora Mae Jackson Obituary

Cora Mae Jackson was born in McCormick County, South Carolina on June 15, 1937 to the late Emma Lou Searles.

She lived with her maternal grandparents the late Rev. Benjamin Calvin & Mrs. Essie Searles in Greenville, South Carolina. When her maternal grandmother passed away, Cora went to live with her aunt Addie Searles, (who was affectionately known as Aunt Bea) in Philadelphia,

Pennsylvania. She was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System.

Cora met and married Daniel Jackson, Sr., and from this union four children were born: Malinda, Daniel Jr., Lisa and Tracy.

Cora was an AMAZING Mom and MomMom!. She absolutely loved her children, grandchildren and great-grand children. Her home was holiday central for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Her family will miss her delicious stuffing & gravy, collard greens mixed with kale, awesome sweet potato pies, amazing banana pudding, her punch and sweet tea just to name a few. She always made sure there was enough food for her family to take home and eat off of for many days. She loved decorating her home for every occasion. She was an immaculate house keeper, her home was always spotless, you could wipe her furniture with a white glove and it would be spotless; it was said that her floors were so clean that you could eat off of them.

Oh, let's not forget that she was a professional shopper! She and her youngest daughter Tracy would go to her favorite stores, Macy's and Boscov's and shop for almost 12 hours (who does that?) LOL.

Her last job before she retired was working as a House Keeper for office buildings in Bala

Cynwyd, PA. She worked there for 39 years before retiring. Her coworkers and the tenants of the offices she cleaned really loved and respected her for her work ethic and the beautiful person that she was. The tenants often gifted her with concert tickets, 76er's tickets, gift cards to toy stores for her to buy gifts for her grandchildren and gift cards to various restaurants.

Cora loved the Lord and although she was in a lot of pain in recent years, she never stopped praising her Lord And Savior Jesus Christ!!! She would be singing gospel songs in her sleep. She would say God is good and that she had faith in Almighty God. She would clap & lift her hands in spite of the pain of arthritis.

She is preceded in death by her husband Daniel Jackson, Sr. her aunt Bea who was like a mother to her, her uncle Henry who was like a big brother to her and her dear cousin Emma who was like a sister to her.

Left to cherish sweet memories of Cora are: Her children, Malinda (John), Daniel, Jr, (Dena), Lisa, Tracy, her grandchildren, Tarika, Taneya, Jonathan (Brittny), Joshua, Danielle, Mark, her great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tristan, Lyric, Langston, Zuri and Christopher and a host of other family members and friends.
