To My Father, Vernon Smith
You were a treasure to me. Having you as my father made me rich in the truest sense.. not in money, but in knowing that if I ever needed anything, you would see to it. Just like a father should.
Just like our Father above.
So much of who I am I inherited from you. Your chill and laidback demeanor. Your quiet strength. Your relentless drive to always be striving for something more. I see you in me every day and I always will.
K. Rose will miss playing toys with her Pop Pop. You gave her that too. A grandfather’s love she will carry with her always.
My heart is in many pieces right now. But I carry the strength of my Lord and I know He will piece it back together.. because that is where I must carry you now. In Him. I will continue praying for you, dad, always.
I am still in complete shock. Still in shambles. But I will live on in honor of you, Vernon Smith. I will continue being and becoming the daughter you were so proud of. Because you told me you were
proud of me. And those words will echo in my mind and in my heart for the rest of my life.
I wish I had more time with you, Daddy. But I am beyond grateful and blessed for every moment I had. You loved me unconditionally and I loved you the same.
This hurts so bad. But I am so proud to be your daughter.
