Losing a loved one is one of the most stressful things a person can endure. During this time of grief and despair, making critical decisions about funeral arrangements and dealing with the associated finances are the last things the bereaved should have to endure.

You can eliminate this tremendous burden for your family by pre-planning your funeral. Pre-planning eases the grieving process for your loved ones by addressing the extensive details and overwhelming decisions that will need to be handled when you pass. It is a gift your family will be sure to appreciate when the time comes.

You may be surprised to know that making funeral arrangements can require as many as 125 decisions be made. That’s no small task for people who are grieving and under extreme emotional stress. Documenting your desires in advance will also give your family peace of mind. Without the benefit or pre-planning, many people have regrets about the funeral arrangements they made for their loved one, fearing they didn’t do enough or didn’t do what the deceased would have wanted.

Funeral pre-planning allows you to determine a multitude of the elements of your service, such as the location, viewings, officiant, pallbearers, eulogists and more. You can also indicate whether you wish to be cremated or buried, and select the casket, urn and plot.

Pre-planning enables you to have a truly personalized service that reflects your styles and desires, creating a very memorable celebration of your life, just as you would like it to be. Choose your favorite hymns and readings for the service. Instead of the eulogist telling somber stories, you could request that he or she share your favorite jokes or humorous anecdotes. Whatever your preferences, pre-planning allows you to outline them all in advance. You can even opt to pre-pay for your funeral to lock in current pricing, but there is no obligation to do so.

The funeral service is a critical phase in the grieving process. Don’t leave the stress of making these important arrangements to your loved ones. Your thoughtful gift of a pre-planned funeral will ease their pain, enable them to find closure, and move them towards healing.
