Obituary of Stanley Mitchell Parker

Please share a memory of Stanley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Stanley Mitchell Parker, a noble man, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and Pop to many, was born in Keller, Virginia, on September 10, 1934, to Emma Garrison Parker and George Dewey Parker. His family called him by his middle name, Mitchell, and affectionately called him by the nickname "Squeezer." He was the fourth of five children. His siblings preceded him in death: Charles Edward, George Thomas, Margaret Emma, and Roosevelt Franklin, leaving him as the patriarch of the Parker family. He attended school in Accomack County, Virginia. During his teenage years, he lived with his mother's dear cousins, Anniebelle Downing Ward and George Ward. They adored and cared for Mitchell like the son that they never had. Cousin Annie and George continued instilling family values and ensuring he attended church. She also taught him how to bake cakes from scratch and gave him his first car, fostering his interest in driving and baking. On May 10, 1958, Mitchell married the love of his life, Molly Beach, in Snow Hill, MD. Mitchell was a family man and a great provider. He worked at Gulf Stream Nursery in Wachapreague, VA., and as a construction worker building roads and highways in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania before relocating to Bronx, NY, in January 1965. At that time, Mitchell and Molly had only two children: his eldest daughter, Sylvia, and his second daughter, Vera, Mollie, was born in 1966, and his only son and namesake, Stanley, was born in 1967. In 1968, Mitchell became employed by General Motors Company in Tarrytown, NY. He worked as an assemblyman for 31 years. In 1970, Mitchell joined his family in worshiping at New St. John Baptist Church. He became an active member and loyal servant of the Lord. He was a trustee and sang in the senior choir. When the church doors were open, Mitchell and his family were there! In his pastime, Mitchell loved watching all sports and attending games. He always knew all game schedules, whether it was football, basketball, or baseball, and he kept up with the college teams of his grandchildren as well. But his greatest joys were being around his children and grandchildren. Mitchell was always present and available for his children. He enjoyed baking cakes for family birthdays and church functions, too. We all enjoyed his cakes! In 1995, the General Motors plant closed its doors in Tarrytown, NY, and Mitchell transferred to Baltimore, MD., with Molly by his side. He continued to work for GM until his retirement in 1999. Soon after, they moved from Maryland to Bensalem, PA., to be close to family. Once settled, they searched for a new church home and joined Love Fellowship Tabernacle. Mitchell remained steadfast in his worship and praise. He held his position faithfully as a Deacon with humility. He formed many relationships by greeting members with smiles and open arms at the door. Mitchell transitioned from this life to his heavenly home on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at age eighty-nine. He was preceded in death by his first grandson, Kevin Wade Vaden II. Mitchell leaves to cherish fond memories: his loving wife, Molly; his daughter Sylvia Young (Frank) of Morrisville, PA; Vera Parker of Fairless Hills, PA; Mollie Kirkland (Lyndon) of Danbury, CT; his son Stanley 'Donnie' Parker of Bronx, NY, and a daughter-in-law Marcia Hall-Parker of Morrisville, PA. He is loved and adored by his grandchildren Amir Kirkland, Jared Young, Elijah Kirkland, Alexis Parker, Saniyya Parker, April Young, and Alcia Gumbs. He also leaves behind to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, two sisters-in-law, Gladys Davis, Alice Alexander, and two brothers-in-law, Clifton Beach, Rufus Beach Sr., and his LFT church family. "To God be the glory for his goodness and mercy toward us." Lovingly submitted, The Family
