It was an honor knowing Monroe and it was a pleasure working with him while army aviation safety officers from early 1990 until late 1994. We flew together a few times and worked together always. We learned from each other. Monroe will be missed. He will be with me and all that ever spent any time with him, always! Monroe and family, you’re in my prayers.
Russ Wingate, CW5, US Army, Ret.

My condolences to the family and friends of Monroe. I met Monroe at the NAS in Willow Grove where I worked for the Air Force and he was still in the Army and he would come to my office to make travel arrangements. We became fast friends. I met his sons when they were young. It had been a while since I had seen him after the base closed. When I heard of the accident he was the first person that I thought of, not knowing at the time that it would be him. May his light continue to shine through his son and grandchild.

My condolences to the Smith family. Monroe grew up on the 2000 N. Carlisle street. I believe there address was 2029 the Miller family was 2032 N. Carlisle. Monroe was quiet and very laid back as we were growing up and very intelligent young man when you met Monroe you knew he was very good person and friendly. Our block was very family oriented. Every got along . We had block parties that his brother Al was our block captain.

I am the cousin of Brenda Boyer whom married Alan, Monroe's uncle. They lived
next door to each other on Carlisle Street. My sisters and I (Lorraine, Gloria and myself Deborah) lived next door for a short time and then visited during the summers. That is when I meet Monroe. We were children. What I recall is his laid back presences. Present as that when he spoke, I knew then that he was very intelligent. When I found out he was a pilot for a Television station, I was not surprised. Something I felt was out of the ordinary. When I heard of the accident I did not think of him. But when I heard the pilot was a African American my heart dropped. I searched to find out the pilots name and sadly it was Monroe. I didn't know him as a adult but knowing him as a child and seeing the direction of his life, I wish I had that opportunity.
