NICHOLAS REED EUBANKS Sunrise: October 4, 1996 Sunset: August 11, 2024
Nicholas Reed Eubanks transitioned to eternal rest on Sunday, August 11, 2024. He was born in Philadelphia to the late Luther Eubanks and Sandra L. Henderson-Eubanks on October 4, 1996. Nick was grandson to the Walter Reed Henderson (deceased), the late Catherine Elizabeth Henderson (deceased), the late Luther Wright (deceased) and the late Louis Dodson (deceased).
Nicholas accepted the Jesus Christ is his personal Savior at age 10 and later joined Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church. Up to the end of his life, he always acknowledged God.
Nick resided in Willow Grove, PA for the past 14 years. He graduated from Abington Senior High School (2014). He secured an Associate's Degree in Computer Science from Montgomery County Community College (2016) and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Cyber Security from West Chester University (2019).
Immediately after college, aerospace giant Lockheed Martin Inc. employed Nicholas as a software engineer for 3 years. He then moved to Capital Blue Cross, also as a software engineer, where he worked for his last 2 years.
Luther, Nick's dad, a self-taught musician introduced Nick to music and the bass guitar. As a youngster, he studied piano and enjoyed performing at recitals. He became an active upright bass player in school orchestras throughout middle and high school. He progressed to the baritone horn in his high school marching band, receiving a varsity letter upon graduation. In his last few years, Nicholas' appreciation for the piano and the bass blossomed, teaching himself how to play different types of music on his own.
From the 2nd grade onward, Nicholas became a voracious reader of sci-fi, fantasy, action and horror books, leading him to be a gifted writer in these genres. In 2014, he won 1st prize in the "Chilling Tales for Dark Nights" writing contest with a short story entitled "Exchange". This work was narrated by an accomplished British actor, produced and broadcasted on YouTube. To date, over 114,000 people have listened to Exchange. Nick had dreams of becoming the "black Stephen King" as he was an avid fan of King as well as Edgar Alan Poe and the grandfather of horror, H.P. Lovecraft. Nick no longer yearned for commercial success with writing as he aged, but he continued writing as a hobby, leaving many, many handwritten, unpublished stories in notebooks and on his computer.
Nicholas was also a serious video gamer and quite the online competitor with others from around the world. He dabbled with designing video games using his computer coding, writing and music composition skills. Nicholas also enjoyed hiking, bike riding, running and nature watching. With an eye toward training and competing in a marathon someday, he ran up to 21 miles. And Nicholas loved to cook. He often sought to expand his palate by trying multicultural foods and experimenting with new and interesting recipes.
In November 2023, Nicholas donated his kidney on behalf of a family friend.
Many say Nicholas walked to the beat of a different drummer. Although people generally thought well of Nicholas, he spent much of his time in his own company. However, Nicholas' very best and devoted friend was his dog, Lexi. Nick did not have any children but Lexi was, indeed, his baby since 2015.
Nicholas Reed Eubanks was highly intelligent, kind, generous, intellectually curious, creative, artistic and had a great sense of humor. He loved animals, especially dogs. Whatever truly interested Nick, he would research the subject to the point of becoming an expert. He was a deep thinker. Family friends referred to Nicholas as an "old soul" as he cared about things and had opinions usually associated with older people. He was a gentleman and always willing to help others, especially the elderly.
Nicholas leaves to mourn his memory, his mother, Sandy, an uncle, Tyrone Eubanks, an aunt, Valda Dodson, and a host of cousins and family friends. He will also be sorely missed by his companion Lexi.
Lovingly Submitted, Sandra L. Henderson-Eubanks
