Elmito Dume-Charles, Jr. Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elmito Dume-Charles Jr., affectionately known as "Toto", on September 10, 2024. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on April 9, 1964, Toto was the youngest of six children born to the late Elmito Dume-Charles Sr. and Marie Rolande Dume-Charles. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Toto had a joyous childhood and displayed an early curiosity for all things mechanical. He would often take apart his toys, only to successfully reassemble them, a passion that grew into a lifelong skill. He became known for his ability to fix anything—whether it was cars, appliances, plumbing, or electrical systems—he had a natural talent and always used his skills to help others. He pursued formal training as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and dialysis technician, further demonstrating his commitment to caring for those in need.

Though born into a Christian family, Toto was a quiet man of faith, never overtly discussing it but always showing his love and care for others. His kindness and selflessness were evident in every aspect of his life. Whether it was taking over elder care for his father and his mother during their prolonged illnesses or lending a hand to friends and family, Toto never hesitated to help when needed. His gentle spirit and unwavering support left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Toto never married, and had no children, he was cherished by his mother, Mrs. Marie Rolande Dume-Charles, and was deeply loved by his four surviving siblings, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family members. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and generosity.

He is survived by 4 older siblings: Marie Elsie Dume-Charles Sanon, Dr. Daniel Dume-Charles, Marie Rolande "ti Yole" Dume-Charles, and Marie Elmouth Dume-Charles. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Thaina Falaise, Junior Sanon, Jennifer Clerisson, Isabelle Sanon, Whitney Clerisson Saint-Fleur, Vladimir Sanon, Ashley Dume-Charles Pomeisl, Sade Dume-Charles, Kierra Dume-Charles, Daniel Dume-Charles Jr., and many more who held him close to their hearts.

Toto will be remembered for his loving heart, his caring spirit, and the many lives he touched. His memory will remain with those who knew and loved him forever.
