Roscoe Lane III, known by family and friends, was born on June 23, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Edith Bowen and Roscoe Lane Jr.. Roscoe spent a bulk of his youth in South Philadelphia, where a large family network supported him and helped him form lasting ties with his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Later settling in Olney alongside his family. Roscoe had a church-centered upbringing and attended Catholic school throughout most of his academic years. Both intelligent and occasionally mischievous, he renowned for his quick wit and mellow spirit. Roscoe showed a strong sense of responsibility by starting work at an early age, faithfully managing a newspaper route that he took great pride in. Roscoe also had an great sense of style—known for wearing neatly tailored suits made by his father and sporting a perfectly picked afro. He always carried himself with a distinctive flair and confidence.
Roscoe graduated High School and proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army. This allowed him to travel the world, built friendships, and cultivated a profound respect for the many people he encountered. Upon completing his military duty, Roscoe continued to pursue his goals by earning a Bachelor's degree in Business. Driven by creativity and ambition, he embarked on several entrepreneurial endeavors. He established a thriving photography business, through which he captured precious moments for countless families and organizations, reflecting his deep passion for the art of photography. Additionally, Roscoe created and managed a newspaper and design business, showcasing his versatile talents and determination. As technology evolved, Roscoe discovered a new calling that greatly appealed to his innovative spirit. He dedicated many of his later years to exploring and mastering new technological advancements.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Roscoe nurtured a lifelong fascination with flight and racing. He eagerly built and flew model airplanes, a hobby that brought him immeasurable joy and allowed him to explore his dream of one day becoming a pilot. Roscoe also had a deep appreciation for high-speed thrills, racing model cars outdoors and immersing himself in pilot simulations and racing video games. This passion reflected his adventurous spirit and love for hands-on exploration. Equally drawn to technology, he regularly dismantled and rebuilt computers, combining his curiosity and love for technology.
Roscoe will be reunited with his beloved mother, Edith Bowen; his father, Roscoe Lane Jr.; his sister, Deborah Jackson; and his grandparents, Willie Jackson, Leleair Grays, Roscoe Lane Sr., and Fannie Harden. He will also be reunited with his beloved daughter, Timeeka Trawick. Roscoe leaves behind his two children, Rahiem Parks and Asia Lane, as well as his two grandchildren, Edward Blake and Jakhi Lane, and brother Christopher Lane who will forever carry on his legacy and hold his memory close to their hearts. And many other family members and close friends.
