Denise Renee Ray Obituary

In Loving Memory of Denise Renee Ray

June 19th, 1957 - January 5th, 2025

It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman whose legacy will forever resonate in our hearts. Denise was not just a loving and caring soul; she was a fierce friend, an unwavering beacon of loyalty, a profile in courage and a ray of sunshine in the lives of all who knew her. On January 5th, 2025, as she embarked on her final journey, she left behind a trail of memories and a mark that will be cherished for generations.

Denise Renee Ray was born in Philadelphia Pa, June 19th, 1957. She was an exceptional human being who lived a good life. She was a beloved mother, wife, and friend. Denise was the only daughter of the late Esther and Arthur Odum Sr. She is survived by an older brother, Arthur Odum Jr. and a half sister Pastor Rochelle Davis. Denise was educated in the Philadelphia school system and graduated from Simon Gratz High School in 1975.

A devoted wife to her beloved husband Anthony Ray, Denise was a shining example of the deep bonds of love and commitment. Their journey together was a testament to the beauty of a loving partnership, one that endured through the highs and lows of life.

Denise was a fearless adventurer who had an insatiable appetite for exploring the world and trying new things. Her love for travel was a reflection of her philosophy that life was meant to be lived to the fullest. She often said, "I work to play," a mantra that encapsulated her zest for life and her commitment to savoring every moment.

She was truly one of God's angels on Earth, spreading love, light, and laughter wherever she went. Denise had a unique ability to tell it like it was, offering candid wisdom with love, kindness, and a straightforwardness that endeared her to all who knew her. What you saw with Denise was exactly what you got, and her authenticity was her greatest gift.

As we mourn the loss of Denise Renee Ray, let us remember the lessons she imparted to us: to love unconditionally, to embrace adventure, to be honest, and to live with a spirit that knows no bounds. Her memory will forever serve as a source of inspiration, reminding us to cherish every moment and to live with the same vitality and passion that she did.

May Denise find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to bring joy and warmth to our lives. Your fight is over, but your spirit lives on in all of us. Thank you for showing us the true meaning of bravery, and for filling our lives with your love.

My beloved wife and friend transitioned from this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 5th, 2025. She leaves to treasure her memory: one daughter, Ashlee Taft; three sons: Corey, Dennis and, Ellis Jr., one brother Arthur; one half-sister Pastor Rochelle Davis, two stepdaughters, Tiffany and Alisha, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
